Autumn Wedding Trends We Didn’t Expect

It all started with Sofia Bush Bush. The 40-year-old actress’s wedding photo appeared in Vogue in early July 2022, although most people were concerned about her stunning floral dress by Monique Lhuillier, but what caught my attention were the photos of her rehearsal dinner. Bush Bush was wearing a halter-backed, hooded white dress (beautiful, but not too out of line, especially for a celebrity) . But instead of diamonds or pearls or the usual bridal accessories, she opted for a white rancher’s hat, turquoise jewelry and a western conch belt. All in keeping with the theme of the evening, “The noble cowboy”-a theme that the guests had mastered-that I later noticed at other weddings.

The biggest wedding trend today is to have no limits, boundaries or expectations about your wedding. Mini weddings, private ceremonies, big reception parties in a few months, themed events-there are endless ways to make your wedding unique to you and your partner. For many couples, it seems to involve tapping into the earthy appeal of denim and the nobility of performance style. Think sparkly rhinestones or tassels paired with silver cowboy boots, or drooping white silk paired with matching white felt hats. Bush Bush’s “Haute Cowboy,” or western glamour, combines the glamour of all the Wild West Down to Earth with the glamour of a more typical wedding dress.

In the more general fashion sense, the influence of jeans has been growing steadily over the past few years. So it’s not surprising that this aesthetic is now seeping into wedding trends. Cowboy boots have been one of the must-have shoe styles for four or five years, and we predict that last year’s Cabincore and COTTAGECORE trends will transition to 2022’s Ralph Lauren-inspired luxury western aesthetic. Even Beyoncé embraced cowboy glamour on her latest album, the Renaissance, in a fringed leather jacket and jewel-encrusted onesie topped with a classic ranch hat, there was even a chrome horse. To be honest, we kind of liked it.

How to create a western glamour wedding

Stick to earth tones

Use warm, natural hues like terra cotta, peaches, marigolds, and shades of brown, cream, and beige instead of super-bright colors. You can also use a bold black-and-white color scheme for bolder statements.

Choose flowers and plants suitable for this occasion

Wild flowers and Chloroplastida native to the western plains pull everything together in a way that Red Roses can’t. Peonies, yellow roses, columbines, sage and sage are gorgeous choices, but when in doubt, ask your florist for advice.

Don’t walk too straight

Unless you want a real cowboy aesthetic, with horses, jeans, boots, spurs and Hercule Poirot ties, remember the “Noble” part of the theme. Opt for western-inspired pieces, such as white boots with an arc at the top of the boot, rather than real cowboy boots or delicate turquoise earrings, rather than piles of turquoise bracelets.

Give your guests specific instructions

If you don’t want your uncle to show up in jeans and a Hercule Poirot tie, you need to tell him. On your wedding website or invitation, list specific topics, such as, “The noble west, please don’t wear jeans or plaid.”. If you like, you can even post inspirational photos online. That said, not every guest is guaranteed to fully comply with the dress code, so if you’re worried about what other people are wearing putting pressure on you, you might want to consider leaving the theme to the bride.
