New york-based jeans company R13 has named Lily Gunn Townsend as its president.
Most recently, she was vice-president of ready-to-wear, accessories and footwear at Mikell Kors. She worked for Kors for 17 years.
At R13, she reports to Chris Leba, chief executive and creative director.
Gunn will oversee the global wholesale, retail, manufacturing and product development of R13 and Denimist.
“I’m delighted to be working with visionaries like Chris and supporting the R13 and DENIMIST teams in this period of evolution and global growth,” Gunn said.
Lebaz founded R13 in New York City in 2009, focusing on high-end jeans, before expanding into high-end ready-to-wear and footwear. The time-honored brand has become a mainstay of the growing style movement, with an avant-garde look in jeans and tracksuits.
“Our design formula has always been this yin and yang-familiarity and the idea of saying, ‘I know what that is, but I’ve never seen anything like this before’-that’s my personal language,” Leba told WWD in June as she presented the 2023 resort.
